What's on our Agenda

By bringing together leading industry experts to educate senior leaders through a programme of panel discussions, inspirational keynotes and engaging networking sessions this micro conference will help you get the tone of female leadership right in your organisation. The agenda focuses on some of the challenges women face when trying to reach their full potential such as a decline in their wellbeing, not having access to the right type of skills development to support them in role or not having the aptitude to combat gender bias or unhelpful stereotyping.

Mandy Hickson

Former RAF Fast-Jet Pilot

Finding a love of flying early in life, Mandy fought hard to achieve her ambition to be a Royal Air Force pilot. She was only the second woman to fly the Tornado GR4 on the front line, amassing over thirty years experience within aviation, completing three tours of duty and 45 missions over Iraq during that time.

Mandy is a sought after keynote speaker across a range of business sectors, where she talks with humour and great passion to inspire those around her. She has been invited to share her insights with some of the most successful organisations across the world where she describes the strategies & behaviours that can be adopted when the stakes are at their highest. She has a wealth of experience to share from working in a male dominated environment, battling imposter syndrome to juggling life as a working mother of two young children. As a coach, mentor and facilitator she inspires others, covering the core areas of human performance factors; decision making, communication, leadership, behaviour, workload, conflict, fatigue and stress management.

She has recently launched her bestselling book, ‘An Officer, not a gentleman’, her inspirational journey to become a pioneering female fighter pilot.

"MISSILE LAUNCH, 5 O'CLOCK..." says the strained voice of my nav into my headset. I am not  daydreaming anymore...

-quote from her book

Emma Carroll

Leadership Coach

Firstly, this conference is not only for women, and it is not about hating male leaders.

It’s about levelling up your thinking as a woman in leadership to reach your full potential and lead continual change feeling well, having wisdom and the ability to win at work, whatever the environment throws at you.

From working with thousands of leaders in top performing organisations over the past seven years Emma has learnt a lot about the power of female leadership and what it can do to steer social change in an organisation when it is embraced, and the women involved feel empowered.

As the Founder of Choose to Grow L&D Ltd, a training company delivering leadership development to giants like Otsuka Pharmaceuticals & Social Interest Group she has spent hours, days, weeks and even months working with women in leadership roles who are trying to get ahead but struggle.

Her research has shown these struggles fall into three buckets; a decline in their wellbeing, not having access to the right type of skills development to support them in role or not having the aptitude to combat gender bias or unhelpful stereotyping.

Here Emma will share her story about beating the wage bias as a female leader and how she survived burnout, driven by unhelpful gender bias.  She will share her interest in resilience at work, fascination with neuroscience, and the toolkits, skills and competencies leading ladies need to sustain their chosen careers.

'She is an effective facilitator of learning and achieves buy in from the leaders she works with'
